Superman Earns ₹17 Crore in India in Just Two Days, Beats Local Films at the Box Office
James Gunn's reboot of Superman, starring David Corenswet, is making waves at the Indian box office. As of Day 2, the film has collected a total of ₹17 crore, outperforming Indian films like Maalik (starring Rajkummar Rao) and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (featuring Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey).
The film earned ₹8 crore on Day 1 and added ₹9 crore on Day 2, making it the third-biggest DC debut in India. Globally, Superman is also performing exceptionally well. It has earned $56.5 million in North America and $40 million from 78 international markets, with projections pointing to $210 million by Sunday.
While Superman is thriving, Indian releases are lagging. Kannappa, despite its star-studded cast including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal, saw a 92% drop in its second week and has recovered only 16% of its ₹200 crore budget.
Maalik managed ₹3.75 crore on Day 1 and ₹5.25 crore on Day 2, while Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is struggling with a two-day total of just ₹73 lakh.
Meanwhile, F1: The Movie, another Hollywood title, has grossed ₹75 crore in 15 days and is on track to join the ₹100 crore club, alongside hits like Oppenheimer and Avatar.
